Yesterday I decided to go see a movie. The only one that looked slightly apealing to me was V for Vendetta. I went to this movie not knowing much about it except that it was about "bringing true justice" to a society that’s government was dictating them. I also knew that Natalie Portman got her head shaved which I thought was cool.
After the movie was over I was amazed. It had so many similarities to the book I read about a year ago for school, 1984. They both had the same sort of big brother aspect where they were being listened to and watched all the time. Also there was curfew and kidnappings of people who didn’t follow the rules. In V for Vendetta, however, the main character V was trying to start a revolution against this government.
This movie was awesome. I loved the references to the "U.S war" causing a lot of opression. I think that everyone should watch this movie or read the book.

Ready Made Blog’s article on cleaning your closet was pretty amusing. I do need to clean out my closet but I don’t think that I would need an article to tell me how to do it. There is a part of the article that could come in handy though. It says that you should give your clothes a 30 day trial and anything you don’t wear you should throw away. This could be a good idea except for people like me. I like to wear different things at different times. I have lots of different styles of clothes because my mood is constantly changing. I usually decide what I’m going to wear by the type of music I’ve been listening to.

In Gainesville there is a place called Split Rock (photos by Chris). It’s like this preserved wildlife section that isn’t quite a nature park but is really cool. There’s an old house that you can only see the base of which is made of stones. There also used to be a chimney but the past couple of huricanes have torn it down. There’s also this cave or more of a rock that’s split so that you can climb in if you’re small. The last couple of times I went though it’s been flooded and so have many of the trails. For a long time my friends and I thought that there was going to be no more Split Rock because the city is building more apartments right next to it. Even though Split Rock isn’t being developed right now, we expect it to go down hill. People who move into those apartments might start littering in there and polluting it. Also, it will become over populated with animals due to the forestry next to it being cut down.

Isabel Allende’s "The Beast" was a pretty good book. The main character is a boy and his name is Alex. His mother becomes sick so his father sends him off with his crazy grandmother Kate while his sisters go with his other grandparents. Alex discovers that he must go to the Amazon with Kate and he’s not really excited about the idea. Then he finds out that they will be trying to find a horrifying Beast that is tall and smells horrible and he is even less excited about the idea.
Early in the adventure Alex meets a girl named Nadia who has spent a lot of time in the Jungle. During this adventure Nadia and Alex become very good friends. Alex learns through Nadia how to not be afraid of the mystical jungle and also discovers that someone on the trip is trying to hurt the indians.
They get captured by the indians and are taken to a mystical village that is a very well kept secret. During this time they become a part of the tribe and venture off to the mountain of gods with a shaman to figure out how to save the tribe from the nahab (other people that are civilized).
Because of this adventure, Alex grows up a lot. He learns to appreciate food that he may not have liked before and he learns how to be more mature and responsible. This book was a really cool book. It had a sort of "coming of age" thing going on and a really interesting mystical thing once you got half way through.

During this past Friday my moms dragged me to Tampa to see Melissa Ferrick. Everytime she is anywhere near where we live my moms go and see her. She’s one of my favorite artists. This show in Tampa was the best Ferrick show I’ve seen yet. There was so many
people crammed into skippers. Originally she wasn’t going to come
because she has the flu but heard about the crowd and rushed there. That show was the best show I’ve ever seen her play. Usually she has to stop and
think about what songs she’s going to play next or she has a set list. This time she just went up there and played with pretty much no breaks.
I was kind of liking the songs she picked but I really liked
the show.

This past Saturday I was in Tampa. My moms decided something cool to go see would be the "dead" Bodies exibit at the Mosi museum. I was kind of nervous to see body parts. Things like that always make my body ache. It’s a reason why I might have never done very well in health class. The more I paid attention the more sick I felt. This exibit was interesting. There were more male bodies than female which was a little weird and a lot of the female bodies had black lungs which indicated that they were smokers. I can’t really describe the exibit. It’s one of those things you’d have to see for yourself.

Today we had to go shopping at the grocery store. This time we payed $120 dollars for food. I had guessed $110. The past week or two I’ve been slacking and not planing breakfast or lunch and just making sure I have vegie burgers, bread, eggs and all the other stuff I usually use. This time I planned every meal. I’ve noticed that there’s a pattern with every other week where we spend more money and when I don’t plan out breakfast or lunch there is less money spent.

My mom informed me that today is National Pig Day! When she said this there was only one pig that came to mind. Borris. Borris is the pet of my friends Erin and Tj. In this picture he was only 6 months old and now he’s around 3. They’ve taught him all sorts of tricks. I never realised how much character a pig really has until I met Borris. Everyone use to scare me with horror stories of how he’d bite me and stuff. But when I finally got the guts to get near him he was actually the one who came to me. He sat down right next to me as I played “Lord of the Rings” video game with Erin. I think Pig Pets can be fun. They are also a lot of hard work though. This piggy lives inside so Erin and Tj’s house is kid proofed. They have blocked off the kitchen with boards at the bottom so that Borris won’t go in. Also when he wakes up making his little pig noises in the morning they have to get up and feed him and let him out. Borris has also had problems with one of his back legs. They took him to a vet to fix it and the vet messed it up even worse. The wood floors that he might slip on when he misses the carpet cause his leg to do this sliding thing and it scares me every time. This pig certainly is awesome. Pot Belly Pigs are hard to take care of but they are well worth it.
